Mason City Youth Hockey Association
Board Meeting September 14, 2006
First Citizens Bank 7:15 pm

Members Present: Pam Metli, Geri Maulsby, Susie Smith, Mark Lassise, Bob Barnes, Dave Hepperly, Jeff Cornick, Jerry Gribben, Julie Fistler, & Kristin McHenry. Guests attending: Bob Klocke, John Lloyd, and Bill Davis.
Pam Metli called the meeting to order at 7:20pm.

Minutes: The August minutes were reviewed. Susie motioned to accept the minutes and Geri seconded.

Figure Skaters: Discussion was held on forgiving the amount owed to the association. Subject tabled until next meeting.

Financials: Geri reports that year-end financials are still in preliminary state.

Arena: Bob Barnes will talk with Pepsi about bringing in pop machines. Vending machines still need to be researched.

John states that the dirt needs to be out of the arena by noon Monday. They will pressure spray the east wall so it can be painted. New flooring will hopefully be put in by registration. Flooring in the Outlaw room still needs to be put in. Dave reports that Arlen Lindsay will do the flooring. Dave also wants to paint in the bathrooms. Jerseys need to be gone through.

Weight room will be closed unless a coach and/or parent are in the room supervising. Mark motions that for safety reasons, only bantam age players and up should be using the weight room. An adult and/or coach must be in the weight room at all times with the players. Jerry seconds this motion. All are in favor, motion carried.

Rental equipment: Jeff motions to raise the equipment rental fee to $30. Mark seconds the motion. Motion carried. The buyout at the end of the year will remain at $50 for any that want to keep their equipment. Bill states that the forms for the rental agreement are done.

High School: Dave reports that league fees are $2000 this year. We all need to be aware of USA Hockey’s new rules. An increase in penalties should be expected. The state tournament will be held in Des Moines this year but Lincoln hosts it.

The high school skate sharpener needs repair. Bus quotes are out Accelerated to handle trainers again this year.

Sunday Oct. 1 st will be the team meeting.

Geri states she is still researching credit cards for the association.

Mark states he has 23 players without counting the 9 th graders. Would like to see at least 31 kids. Will have to roster bantam players.

Youth Hockey: The September/October schedule is done and will be handed out at registration. Pam reports that picture night will be Monday November 6.

Effective this year coaches will need to wear helmets for on ice activities.

Fundraising: Intro letter regarding mandatory fundraising is done and will be handed out at registration.

New Business: Jeff motions that we keep beer sales during the Outlaw games on the west end of the arena. Kristin seconds the motion. Motion carried.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau has given MCYHA the “Spirit of Tourism” award.

Pam motions to adjourn the meeting. Geri seconds. Meeting adjourned at 9:26pm

Next meeting will be October 19 th, 2006.
