Board Meeting October 19 th, 2006

President Pam Metli called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm.

Members Present: Pam Metli, Jerry Gribben, Jeff Cornick, Chad Wihlm, Dave Hepperly, Geri Maulsby, Julie Fistler, Bob Barnes, Kristin McHenry, Mark Lassise, Susie Smith, and guest John Lloyd, Bill Davis and Mark Hicks.

Figure Skaters: Geri reports that the figure skating club has now paid the amount they were requesting be forgiven.

Pam to look at figure skating’s ice time and let them know what they should be paying for that ice time. Pam will also talk to them about their current ice times and consolidating ice time.

Financials: Year-end financials done. Geri will email everyone a cope of the final statements. As of May 31 st, 2006 our net-income was $238,590. Note: $200,000 of that are donations for the arena project. Total arena remodeling costs are right around $600,000. Total cash available as of September 31 st was $127,000. Jeff motions to accepted the financials as printed with Jerry seconding. Motion approved.

Arena: A pop machine will be placed in the lobby next week. We will fill the machine ourselves. More discussion was held on the need/use of vending machines in the lobby. Bob Barnes states that the machines could cost anywhere from $2,200-$3,500. Issue was tabled until next months meeting.

TV monitors/cameras: Julie presented estimates from Stephens Communications on the buying and instillation of color cameras above center ice. Discussion was held on the two types of cameras listed in the quote. Jeff will ask the Outlaws if they would like to contribute to the purchasing of the camera.

Mark motions that we purchase the more expensive (18X Day/Night Speed Dome PTZ Camera) for $2,700 with the Outlaws help. If they are not willing to help then we go with the less expensive camera (C-Mount Day/Night Color High Resolution Camera) for $920. Jeff seconds the motion. Motion approved.

Julie will work on getting TV/Monitors donated to the arena.

John states that he had a refrigerant detector placed in compressor room. All of the team rooms will be ready by this weekend. Another roll of rubber flooring needed to be ordered for the high school locker room. And the sprinkler system needs to be hooked up to a phone line.

High School: Mark H. reports all is going well. Exhibition game is this weekend.

Dan Byron (Goalie coach) will be helping out this year as an assistant.

Youth Hockey: About 200 skaters are registered so far. Almost all the youth teams have coaches. Travel coaching assignments are as follows:

Bantam A John Lloyd

Bantam B Todd Smith & Cliff True

PeeWee Scott Maulsby & Jeff Cornick

Squirt A Kelly Roth

Squirt B Brian McHenry

Mites Jeff Metli & Jim Lloyd

When Mite or Squirt B travel teams have Saturday games the ICEHAWK games will be played on MONDAY.

The Level 1 coaching clinic was postponed. Mark H. to hold one in November.

Winterfest- Jerry reports that he only needs one more team to fill the roster.

Squirt B travel fees- Jeff motions that the travel fee be $130 for Squirt B. Susie seconds the motion. Motion approved.

Code of Conduct: Play by the Rules! A committee will update our code of conduct policy. We will look at school rules as well. Mark H and Mark L to help work on this.

Fundraising: Kristin reports that six families have bought out the fundraiser so far. The Schwan’s fundraiser will be handed out at the Mid-Season tournament. We are hoping to net at least $16,000.

Kristi Walderbach is running the wreath sale again this year for the travel teams. Information is out at the arena.

Jeff will talk to John Fischer about having Culver’s night again.

Golf Outing: Chad reports that we are $1,367 short in sponsor fees and auction items. Chad to bill these people again.

Sponsorships: All house teams are filled. We have some new arena sign and dasher board sponsors.

Outlaws: Jeff will talk with the Outlaws and again remind them of where to park for home and away games and where they can and can’t park the Outlaw bus.

New Business: Public health is sponsoring a Port-Wellness campaign for 6 th - 8 th graders. They will be skating with the High School on Dec 5 th.

Travel Tryout Process: Mark H. states that we will revamp the process next year. We need a tryout committee. Hicks will run tryouts with the committee.

Rich Piscapo has turned in his resignation as Risk Manager for Mason City Youth Hockey. A new risk manager will have to be found.
