MASON CITY YOUTH HOCKEY BOARD MEETING
THURSDAY January 18, 2007

The Mason City Youth Hockey Board met Thursday, January 18 th, at First Citizen’s Bank. Members present were: Pam Metli, Chad Wihlm, George Jessen, Dave Hepperly, Jeff Cornick, Jerry Gribben, Geri Maulsby, Susie Smith, Julie Fisler, and Mark Lassise. Guests attending were Mark Hicks and Bill Davis. President Pam Metli called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm.

MINUTES: Minutes from November/December meeting were read. Mark Lassise made a motion to accept minutes with Susie Smith seconding. Motion carried.

FINANCIALS: Geri Maulsby presented financials. Concessions are down from 2005. Need to evaluate concession expenses vs. income. George Jessen to discuss with John Lloyd regarding inventory. Cash register used last year will be placed back into the concession area. Arena worker schedule - George to discuss with John to understand scheduling of resources. Bill Davis and Pam Metli to discuss with all levels regarding volunteerism. Jeff Cornick made a motion to accept financials with Jerry Gribben seconding. Motion carried.

ARENA:

  • Recognition for Donation – Susie Smith and Pam Metli to start review of different types of displays.
  • High School banners – Mark Hicks and Mark Lassise to get the list of years and places.

FUND RAISING:

  • Schwan’s fundraiser is taking place from January 10 th thru 27 th. Jerry Gribben to discuss with John Lloyd regarding putting fundraiser tag on large mailbox.

YOUTH HOCKEY:

  • House Mid-season Tourney was well run.
  • Mark Hicks to discuss bench behavior with some Superhawk coaches.
  • Travel update – Peewee team playing well. Bantam level average. Bantam A tourney set for January 20-21. Winterfest tourney has 12 teams (4 teams at each level)

HIGH SCHOOL:

  • One high school player ineligible due to grades
  • High school team struggling as of late, but team is still upbeat and working hard.
  • Clear Lake night needed to be more organized. Need to develop a standardized schedule.
  • Dave Hepperly to discuss with high school parents regarding fulfillment of volunteer hours.

NOMINATION COMMITTEE: Jerry Gribben nominated to be Nomination Committee Chair.

OLD BUSINESS:

1) Cancer fund raiser set for February 10 th. George Jessen made a motion to donate 10% of gate, okay skate with the Outlaws after the game, and allow chuck a puck – Jeff Cornick seconding. Motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Julie Fisler to discuss with Pepsi regarding potential conflict.
  • Susie Smith made a motion to reimburse Quinn and Leah Weber 50% of fees due to child breaking collar bone during Christmas break with Jeff Cornick seconding. Motion carried.
  • George Jessen made a motion to set referee pay for house games at $12 with Geri Maulsby seconding. Motion carried.

Dave Hepperly made a motion to adjourn the meeting with Jerry Gribben seconding. Board Meeting was adjourned at 8:42 pm.
