Mason City Youth Hockey Board Meeting
February 15 th, 2007
First Citizens National Bank 6:30pm

Members Present: Pam Metli, Susie Smith, Geri Maulsby, Dave Hepperly, Jeff Cornick, Bob Barnes, Chad Wihlm, Julie Fistler, Kristin McHenry, George Jessen, and Mark Lassise.

Pam Metli called the meeting to order at 6:35pm .

Guest, Anne Ward, met with the board to express concerns about her son, Zach and disciplinary issues. Anne and the board discussed options that would be appropriate for her son. After going to closed session, discussion was held. Bob motions to uphold the Disciplinary Committee’s decision to suspend Zach for one week. Julie seconds. All in favor, motion approved. Bob motions that after Zach serves his suspension he will be allowed to only practice with the bantam team. Mark Lassise will supervise him during practice after his coaches, parents, and Zach sign a contract of behavior they all agree on. Mark seconds this motion. 7 in favor 4 opposed. Motion passes.

Minutes: January minutes reviewed. Susie motions to accept the minutes. Kristin seconds. Motion approved.

Financials: Geri states she opened a treasured CD at 4.7%. Payroll is better, down from Nov. and Dec. Employees are watching their hours better.

We still need to collect $3,700 in sponsorships. Pam states that they have been invoiced. Chad states that three people are still outstanding from the golf outing. They will be invoiced again. Financial statements reviewed. Chad motions to accept the financials with Susie seconding. Motion approved.

Heating System: George states that we may need to start thing about replacing the heating system/heat exchanger. Mechanical Air is going to be getting us an estimate on a more efficient furnace.

Ice: George will get a hold of the Outlaws and see what their playoff status is and their need for ice. The ice is usually out by the first Sunday in April.

We may need to contact the fair association if the need for more ice time is necessary.

High School: The two players suspended due to grades have now been reinstated. Sponsor night is Friday the 16 th. JV team looks good to go to the State Tournament. Varsity team is on the edge.

Relay for Life: Cancer fundraiser held on Feb 10 th was a success. Linda Anderegg reports that $4,000 was raised. MCYH gave 10% of high school admissions that night equal to $43.00

Youth Hockey: March 17 th will be the end of season tournament.

MAHA meeting: Jeff Cornick and Tom Lundeen to attend the MAHA meeting April 23 rd, 2007 .

Winterfest: Tournament this weekend is full. 12 teams are participating.

Fundraising: Schwan’s fundraiser has raised $12, 858 to date. Only 6 families are still outstanding.

Jeff Cornick will check with John Fischer to inquire about Culver’s Nights.

Annual Meeting: Thursday, April 19 th, 2007 . Location to be determined. Bob will reserve a location by the next meeting.

Nomination Committee: George, Bill, Dave, Bob, and Jerry. Bob will chair in the event that Jerry cannot. Requests for board nominations will be placed in the newsletter.

Old Business: The referee situation was discussed. It was decided that it is too late this year to make any changes. We will be making improvements for next year. Suggestions are welcomed.

Bob to talk with Premium Beverage regarding an $800 sponsorship. It was brought to our attention that they were under the impression they could not have a sign in our arena.

New Business: The family of Patrick Anderegg has asked that their registration fees be reimbursed. Patrick has not played all season due to his school performance. Jeff motions to reimburse the Anderegg family 100% of Patrick’s registration fee. George seconds the motion, all in favor. Motion passes.

A letter from Deb Lassise was read to the board.

Bob motions that Mason City Youth Hockey’s bylaws be place on the website. Dave seconds, all are in favor. Motion passes.

Susie motions for adjournment. Pam seconds. Meeting adjourned at 8:45pm .
