Important Dates To Know!!!

We offer instruction to boys and girls four years of age and older in our Badge program. If you child is new to the Club, we will help to evaluate your child's ability and try to play him/her in the proper class. You will be notified as to when to come to the first lesson and the instructor will work with the skater and place him/her in the proper class.

The NIFSC instructors for 2007-2008 are:

Sheila Swift, member of the Professional Skaters Association, Registered Group Instructor rating. Member of NIFSC for 20 years. Basic Skills instructor for 6 years.

Megan Coborn, Member of NIFSC for 14 years, 9 year skating competitor. Basic Skills instructor for one year.

Abby Loeffelholz, member of the Professional Skaters Association. Registered Freestyle Rating, Certified Sports Science Rating. Twelve years coaching experience.

Registration for the 2007-2008 year will be held at the North Iowa Ice Arena
on September 21 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on September 23 from 1 p.m. to 5
p.m. If you are unable to attend one of the registrations and would like
information, please call one of the board members listed.

There is still time to register for the figure skating program. Each skater will be charged for instructional times desired as well as their membership to the NIFSC. Club dues include membership in the U S Figure Skating Club which is required for competitions and participation in the Basic Skills program.

Ice Shows and Exhibitions

'Strut Your Stuff' is our first exhibition show and will be held Sunday, December 9, 2007. The exhibition is open to skaters of any ability level. The skaters may choose to skate solo, duet, trio or any other creative grouping. The skater can sign up with an instructor to work up a routine for the show. There will be a sign up sheet posted on the bulletin board in the arena early in the season. Skaters will be responsible for their own music.

The annual spring show will be held on Saturday March 8 and Sunday March 9, 2008. Show times will be posted at a later date.

Cancellations due to weather or other problems will be announced on KLSS and KGLO radio stations by 1 p.m. The rule of thumb is if both Mason City and Clear Lake schools are cancelled, skating is cancelled. If you have a question about cancellations, call one of the Club's board members.
