Please don’t miss our annual Holiday show that is open to all skaters. It will be held on Sunday, December 9 th at 5:30pm. Skaters performing should be at the arena at 5:00 pm for warm up. This is a great way for the skaters to show friends and family what they can do. We have several skaters who have signed up to perform at this show. First year skaters will do a routine together. Our Thursday Sprites line will be performing also. If you are not participating please come and support your fellow skaters. All participants are asked to bring a dozen cookies to share after the show. We will serve cookies and cocoa up stairs following the performances. This is a great way to kick off the Holiday season! Flowers and stuffed animals will also be available for purchase for your skater the night of the show. |

Testing
There will be a formal testing for all badge and freestyle skaters on Sunday, December 16, Monday, December 17 th, and Thursday, December 20 th. If you have any concerns with testing or can’t make it those days, please contact your skater’s coach to make other arrangements. We like to keep the skaters moving up and challenged with new skills. |
There are several upcoming competitions that the skaters may participate in. We will try to put registration forms on the board for those interested to copy and use. Please contact a board member or your skater’s coach if you are interested. The next competitions we know about at this time are in Omaha and Cedar Rapids. The costs of these competitions vary by location. |
The NIFSC needs your help to offset the operating expenses of the club. Without your support, registration fees would not be affordable. The only sources of revenue for the club are memberships, donations, and fundraisers. Registration fees alone only cover about 50% of our annual operating expenses. No taxpayer dollars are used to support the programs or facilities utilized by the |
NIFSC. Your tax-deductible donation will help the NIFSC continue to provide a quality figure skating program while offsetting the rising cost of providing these programs to interested North Iowa youth. The North Iowa Ice Sports Association (Mason City Youth Hockey) also solicits donations for arena expenses however these monies donated to them do not directly benefit the NIFSC. Please consider a donation directly to the NIFSC. We will post contribution forms on our board. Please feel free to take them and make additional copies for friends, employers, etc. We thank you for your continued support. |
This is a friendly reminder that if you pay monthly, your December payment is due by December 10 th. Thank you! |

As we are putting this newsletter together the first big snow in our area is upon us. This time of year can make our normal schedules difficult! A good rule of thumb is if Mason City schools are cancelled, more than likely our lessons will be too. We will make every effort to have the announcement made on KLSS radio station. Please keep in mind we do not want anyone to risk it if you feel the weather is too bad outside to come. Your safety is the most important thing. Please contact a board member if you are unsure if lessons are on or not. We will work to communicate our decision with the arena staff should the lessons be cancelled.
